The Nintendo Switch 2 recently came out, and people couldn’t figure out whether the handheld console was worth the hype or not. With slight differences from its predecessor, the Switch 2 has a couple of upgrades that actually do make the Switch 2 worth the upgrade if you already have a Nintendo Switch.
I’ll give you a rundown of whether or not the Switch 2 is worth the hype, so make sure you read all the way through to decide whether you should be getting one for yourself or not.
So far, there have been mixed reviews about the console, so this write-up should help you make up your mind.
It’s Great for Online Gaming
You can make the most out of your gaming experience if you opt for online gaming through this handheld console.
This principle applies to all gaming consoles, including a Nintendo Switch, a PlayStation, or an Xbox. Lucky for Switch owners, you can head online and play games like Smash Bros. with players from all over the world.
All you need to do is connect your Switch 2 to your internet service and link your Nintendo account to your Switch 2. If you’re using the Docked mode on the new console, make sure you use a wired connection to get the best performance.
Also, it is imperative to connect to an internet connection that rarely ever goes out.
In my case, I always connect my consoles to my Xfinity Internet connection, and I’ve never faced any hiccups while playing. I highly advise you to do the same too. This way, you can make the most out of your online gaming experience without breaking the bank.
It Has a Stellar Display
Another thing that had me sold on getting the Switch was its integrated 1080p display. The console also features a crisp 4K resolution when you connect it to a compatible TV, which makes your gameplay as immersive as possible. This is why a Switch 2 can compete with other mainstream consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.
I have always been someone who pays a lot of attention to a game’s graphics, and I found it extremely useful that not only did the console feature a 4K resolution when connected to a 4K TV, but it also provided a 120fps display, which made the gameplay very seamless.
For my PlayStation 5, I invested in a 4K TV so that I could get the best experience, and I’m putting my Switch 2 to good use now, too! This is one of the many reasons why you should consider getting the new console.
Focus on the Ergonomics
If you remember the PlayStation Portable (PSP), it was among the best handheld consoles of all time.
Much of that was because the console was ergonomically perfect. It fit well in the hands of any size, and the buttons were well-placed, making it easy to play games on the console.
The same is the case with the Switch 2 when it comes to ergonomics. In fact, the successor saw a lot of upgrades as compared to its predecessor – the Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 is a bit bigger in general and also has a larger display, which helps you give more attention to the details of the game that you’re playing.
Similarly, the Joy-Cons in the Switch 2 are attached magnetically, which makes it easier for you to attach or remove them whenever you want. This also makes it quicker to remove or attach your Joy-Cons, which helps you save a bit of time and is more convenient as well.
A Lot More Storage Space
If you remember, when the first Nintendo Switch rolled out, it only offered 32GB of internal storage space, which wasn’t enough if you wanted to store a lot of games.
You would have to opt for additional storage to store more games on your console.
Nintendo finally fixed that issue by beefing up the internal storage from a meager 32GB to a massive 256GB of internal storage, which is enough for most gamers. Not only that, but you can also expand your storage if you wish to do so.
All you need to do is get MicroSD Express cards, depending on how much storage you want.
Remember that an ordinary SD card will not cut it here. You’ll need the MicroSD Express cards since they are fully compatible. You can get a 256GB one for around 60 bucks and about 100 bucks for a 512GB one.
Once you do that, you can store bigger games such as Cyberpunk 2077.
Though there might not be a lot of new content for you to play on the Switch, we’re still hopeful to see some in the future, which is why I feel like it would be a pretty good idea for you to get a Switch 2 for yourself too. Happy gaming!
